Nothing, the tech startup of ex-OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, will unveil its first pair of true wireless earbuds in June. The company says the earbuds will be called Ear 1, but it remains closed on other details such as their specs, price, and final design. However, an illustration released alongside today’s blog post shows what appears to be a silhouette of the earbuds with a fairly long stem.
We know the earbuds will be designed in collaboration with Teenage Engineering and will have a “stripped-down aesthetic”. A concept render from March provides more clues, such as the use of transparent materials in their construction. Nothing announced in February that the first products would be wireless earbuds.
A product unveiling in June means the company is close to delivering on its promise to release its debut product in the first half of the year in January. However, a release in the same month is not guaranteed. The company is only saying it will reveal the product and announce details on how to order them, but it wouldn’t officially confirm a ship date.
Other than headphones, nothing has said that it ultimately plans to build an ecosystem of interconnected devices.
