This is the heart-stopping moment an alligator charges into a buggy on a Florida golf course, leaving the driver heading towards a pond as he veers off the path.

The alligator can be seen brazenly running towards the car, before snapping dangerously close to the passenger as the vehicle passes through the stretch of water in Ave Maria, Florida.

But the reptile has no desire to chase the vehicle and calmly heads towards the pond.

Florida is home to about 1.3 million alligators and when they are less than five feet long they pose little to no threat to humans. Seeing them on golf courses is not unusual in the state.

Social media users were quick to comment on the post, with one writing: “Wow, lucky the golfer didn’t end up in the pond.”

Another posted: ‘One more turn to the right on that wheel and the alligator could have had a pair of thighs on the 8th hole!’

Someone else added: “Who would have thought golf was such a dangerous sport?”

In March of last year, a huge alligator crashed through a newly installed metal fence at a Florida golf club.

A local meteorologist shared the video from the Gulf Coast city of Placida, which has more than a million views on Facebook and 50,000 likes on Instagram.

“Watch this big guy bend aluminum bars and smash through them this week in Placida,” wrote Matt Devitt. Aluminum is considered a lightweight metal, which explains how the huge alligator was able to get through the fence so easily, Devitt told Fox 35.

But much flimsier materials are also used to construct porch dividers intended to keep the reptiles out of people’s yards, raising fears about what would happen if this alligator encountered such an obstacle.

Florida alligators are known to move more in the spring and have been seen climbing fences in the past, but this alligator clearly wanted a more direct route.

Devitt noted that the person who originally took the video said the alligator eventually made its way to the other side.

Video camera captured a terrifying moment when a huge alligator simply crashed through a newly installed metal fence at a Florida golf club.

“He knows what he’s doing…he’s done it before,” one Facebook commenter ominously joked on Devitt’s post.

‘That’s why in Florida, if there’s a body of water, there’s an alligator in it! Stay safe people!,” another chimed in on Instagram.

In February of last year Gloria Serge, 85, was mauled to death by the 10-foot alligator named Henry while trying to rescue her beloved dog Trooper from the beast.

Henry was subsequently captured and euthanized, and wildlife officials subsequently captured three other reptiles from the series of interconnected lakes and removed them.

A terrified neighbor struggled to try to save Gloria and called 911 after witnessing the alligator lunching on her after stalking her for 100 feet.

His dog, Trooper, survived the attack, and the reptile was captured and euthanized after his death.
