Norwich faces the battle to keep Emiliano Buendia as star-forward dreams of playing at ‘top level’ amid Arsenal interest … with Robert Green claiming Argentinian should go while in demand

  • Norwich faces an uphill battle to keep Emiliano Buendia interested with Arsenal
  • Buendia, 24, had a great season for Norwich, with 15 league goals and 17 assists
  • Robert Green said it makes sense that Buendia leaves ‘if you play well’

According to ex-Canary Robert Green, Norwich faces a real battle to keep their star player Emiliano Buendia from leaving this summer.

Buendia has been the subject of huge interest from several clubs, with Arsenal most eager to open talks with the Argentinian earlier this week.

Aston Villa is also strongly pursuing the £ 40 million-rated forward who was the best player in Norwich’s championship-winning season in which they returned to the Premier League immediately.

Norwich may not hold on to Emiliano Buendia, who said he wants to play at the ‘highest level’

Buendia scored 15 goals and provided 17 assists in the league, and was voted Champion Player of the Season.

Concerned for Norwich and encouraging for Arsenal, Buendia recently spoke about his ambitions to rise to the top of football.

“You always dream of being at the highest level and in the best teams in England, Spain or Europe,” he told the Spanish newspaper AS.

‘You dream of playing for titles, it is an ambition I have, it is proud that important clubs are interested in you, it means that you are doing well and it is a motivation to keep working and achieve it someday . ‘

Ex-Norwich and England goalkeeper Robert Green also admitted that now is the time for Buendia to make a move after proving his prowess.

‘He is the best player in the championship. He has improved and is ahead. But without that advantage, I don’t think you’ll get the same player, ”Green said the mirror.

‘It’s a difficult one (the transfer) because I see it from the perspective of the player.

And if there’s ever a time to go, it’s when you play really well and you’re confident. He’s just been called to the Argentina team too, so it points in certain directions, I think.

‘I’m sure Norwich fans will say’ we’re back in the Premier League so we need him to help us out ‘.

“But it’s a tough one, because in the end everyone has a price.”

There is an acceptance that Buendia will leave and Arsenal’s new director of football Richard Garlick seems determined to make the 24-year-old their first addition of the summer.

Arsenal fans are eager to see change after a hugely disappointing season and Garlick wants to make sure his tenure gets off to a strong start.

Discussions have quickly escalated with Norwich eager to stop a transfer saga from dragging through the summer.

The Carrow Road club are expecting offers of around £ 35m plus expansions and Arsenal know Villa has the financial strength to compete.
