Noel Gallagher will undergo surgery later this year to replace his knee after suffering from arthritis.
The former Oasis star, 57, has been struggling with the joint problem, it was reported on Friday.
His estranged brother Liam, 51, with whom he created hits such as Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger, also suffers from the disease.
Liam was forced to undergo major hip surgery in April and said he was studying his old music videos during his recovery.
Speaking to Sun On Noel’s upcoming surgery, a source said: ‘Noel is not at all happy about the fact that he needs this knee surgery.

“It’s a sign that he’s progressing and he’s not very good at staying in bed unless there’s football on TV.
‘Liam had to have surgery on his hips after wrestling and now Noel is following the same path.’
On a lighter note, the source said Noel hopes his younger brother will laugh knowing he needs surgery for the same condition as him.
The source added that Noel will likely recover.
Noel will continue to play with his band The High Flying Birds over the summer before taking a break in August to go on holiday before the operation.
Speaking on his friend Matt Morgans’ podcast, Noel admitted he was undergoing the surgery.
He said: “I have problems with my knees. I have to have surgery on my damn knee.”

Last year, Liam revealed that he needed to have his hip joints replaced due to arthritis as a result of a long-standing thyroid problem.
Taking to social media, he wrote: ‘Good morning Rastas. I had hip surgery last week, everything went well and I RESPECT all the doctors and nurses who looked after me. A big thank you to the A-team for getting us home safe and sound.’

One fan asked: ‘Hope the surgery didn’t affect your style!’
Only for Liam to quickly reply: ‘I’m having my physio study old videos of me walking so we don’t miss anything, the recovery is real.’

The famous brothers have been embroiled in a very public feud since Oasis split up at their final concert in Paris in 2009, following a backstage row.
And last month, Liam was reportedly told to patch up his rift with brother Noel so his mother Peggy could enjoy her 80th birthday with her children.
A source said Sun:There has been some rift within the family in recent years, especially with Liam and Noel at war.
‘Peggy has told Liam to patch up the rift and hopes there will be a genuine reconciliation.
‘Peggy was thoughtful and it would be the best birthday present if they finally took some steps to resolve their dispute.’
