Noah Lyles’ mother wore the American and Jamaican flags on her nails before her son took on his Caribbean rivals in the Olympic 100-meter final on Sunday night.

It was a nod to Lyles’ girlfriend, Junelle Bromfield, a Jamaican runner who is also competing in the Paris Games this summer.

Lyles claimed his first Olympic gold medal after beating Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson by 0.005 seconds in a thrilling photo finish.

The American ran to celebrate with his girlfriend and his mother, who showed off her freshly painted nails before the final.

His right hand carried the stars and stripes of the United States, while his left hand carried the flag of Jamaica.

Bromfield took part in the 4x400m mixed relay on Saturday, where Jamaica finished fifth in the final. She will compete in the 400m individual heats on Monday.

Caine Bishop was emotional on Sunday after her son’s historic gold medal in the men’s 100m final.

Lyes crossed the finish line in 9.79 seconds before sharing a touching moment with loved ones. She ran to hug her mother, who told her: “You did it. My God, you are amazing.”

Lyles also hugged Bromfield and his sister, Abby, before returning to the track to continue their celebrations.

“It’s what I wanted, it’s a tough battle, they are incredible opponents,” Lyles said.

‘Everyone came prepared for the fight and I wanted to prove that I am the man among them all, I am the wolf among wolves.

The reigning Olympic champion, Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs, finished fifth in 9.85 seconds. Lyles is aiming for another gold in Paris in the 200 metres and the relay.

Bromfield took part in the mixed 4x400m relay on Saturday and Jamaica finished in fifth place.
