No supporters of the Rotterdam club are allowed to be present at next month’s exhibition match between FC Twente and Sparta Rotterdam. Following the events after the Sparta – FC Twente match last Friday, the local triangle in Enschede has decided that this match is not accessible to supporters of Sparta Rotterdam.

That late Sparta know Friday. “Of course, Sparta regrets this decision and has contacted FC Twente about this, but this does not lead to a change of opinion. It has been decided that the exhibition match will take place despite the absence of Sparta supporters because the agreements about playing of the game have already been made,” said the club.

“In addition, there is the sporting importance of playing matches at a high level in preparation for the second half of the season,” Sparta continues. “Playing exhibition matches in one’s own stadium (with the public) is unfortunately not possible this winter break due to all the renovations in the Sparta Stadium.” Due to the disturbances at last week’s match, stricter measures will apply to supporters the next time FC Twente comes to visit.

“FC Twente is allowed to travel to the away match against Sparta with fewer supporters next season, there is a mandatory bus combination and no alcohol is served. It is very unfortunate that the well-intentioned supporters have to suffer among the evil ones,” said the club from Enschede.
