Carlton’s premiership dreams came to a brutal end against the Brisbane Lions last weekend at the Gabba, but that didn’t stop Andrew Voss’s group of players from enjoying a few beers on Crazy Monday.

Characters such as Charlie Curnow and Elijah Hollands turned heads in prison-style outfits, while Alex Cincotta looked sharp dressed as iconic Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear.

His teammate Dom Akuei was potentially the best dressed as Waldo from Where’s Wally? and Adam Cerra dressed better than most by taking on the persona of a doctor.

This comes after the Blues got off to a horrible start against the Lions in their elimination final, failing to score a point until the second quarter.

The hosts scored the first nine goals and racked up 60 points as shocked Blues fans began dreaming of a possible flag in 2025.

In an unwelcome historic episode, Carlton also became the first team not to score in the first quarter of a finals game since 1974.

Patrick Cripps’ cross five minutes before half-time meant they avoided becoming the first team to go scoreless after two seasons in AFL history.

“That sums up our season, we haven’t been consistent enough,” Voss said after the game reflecting on the 28-point loss.

‘When you’re not consistent enough, it gets worse over time, you get to finals, against the best teams, with the most extreme pressure… and you discover a little more about yourself.

“We didn’t have our pressure at levels close to where we needed to be.”

Carlton vice-captain Sam Walsh admitted his side were off the pace from the first bounce.

“We hope this can feed our hunger for next year,” he said.

‘We got beaten in a lot of games on all courts. I feel like we couldn’t match Brisbane’s intensity.

“It is an opportunity we missed, but if we do not learn from these lessons then the same things will continue to happen.”

A highlight on a night to forget was Sam Docherty’s return from a third ACL injury.

He scored a late goal to the delight of his teammates, who largely seemed intimidated by the occasion.

“We’ve got full confidence in the group and what we’re trying to do,” Docherty said.

“We have to improve our ability to consistently implement our habits and behaviors in football matches. That’s the difference between the best and the guys behind them.”
