No. 2 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas loses to Australian Jordan Thompson at BNP Paribas Open

Stefanos Tsitsipas was defeated 7-6 (0), 4-6, 7-6 (5) by the Australian jordan thompson in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open on Friday.

Second seed Tsitsipas had a bandaged shoulder and the injury appeared to affect his backhand.

Jordan took advantage and attacked the Greek’s backhand while charging on short balls to earn his second career win over a top 10 player.

He edged out Tsitsipas, the Australian Open runner-up, in 2 hours and 37 minutes.

“I felt confident, even playing against a top 10 player, I felt comfortable with myself and what I was doing, and I just got a win,” Jordan said. “It was a great feeling. You could see it on my face at the end of the game. I was overwhelmed with joy.”
