Nintendo has officially stopped selling the eShop in Russia

Date:

Nintendo has officially stopped all eShop sales to players in Russia for the time being, and Nintendo of Europe announced yesterday that users living in Russia will no longer be able to make purchases or redeem digital codes on the eShop.

These users’ credit card information and PayPal details will be deleted for security purposes, however, they will still be able to download previously purchased games and DLC for a period of time.

The company said in the ad (which was translated by Engadget): “As of May 31, 2023, and for the foreseeable future, Russian customers with an existing Nintendo Account will be able to re-download digital content they previously purchased, it will not be possible to make any new purchases or use download codes within the Nintendo eShop in Russia “.

It is not known how long Russian users will still be able to access content previously purchased from the eShop. Nintendo also indicated that customers will not be able to create new Nintendo accounts as long as they select Russia as their country of residence.
