Nine TV Host Alice Monfries Can’t Stop Laughing After Guest Mark Borlace Suffered Epic Failure On Zoom

  • Presenter descended in a fit of giggles

A TV host burst out laughing after her guest appeared wearing a tiny pizza hat during her struggle to find the right Zoom background.

Alice Monfries of 9News Adelaide couldn’t stop laughing after her interviewee experienced some technical difficulties during a segment on Tuesday.

Mark Borlace of the Royal Automobile Association accidentally chose a filter that made it look like he was wearing a miniature pizza-shaped hat.

He tried selecting a filter that would just blur his background, but instead he chose a photo of a girl washing a car, and then a man snorkeling with a turtle.

“Studio effects… how do I blur again… studio filters?” he muses as Monfries notices his Zoom misstep and immediately starts laughing.

The host is seen covering her mouth with one hand in an effort to contain her laughter before finally wiping the tears of laughter from her eyes.

“I’m going to log out and back in,” Mr. Borlace says after noticing the hat.

“Ok… well, amazing,” Monfries replies as he tries to recover.

Monfries laughed after seeing the little pizza hat.

She was later seen wiping away tears of laughter.

The 9News anchor posted the hilarious video on her Twitter account on Wednesday, confessing that she was “still laughing.”

“If only we could have handled everything… including your profanity,” he wrote.

‘Very very funny. I’m still laughing!

The RAA was also able to see the funny side of Borlace’s epic Zoom failure and reposted the video on their Facebook page.

Pizza or party hat? Even our beloved screen veterans at RAA struggle with Zoom backgrounds from time to time. We love you Mark,” the post read.

Thanks to 9News Adelaide for this fantastic capture.

Mr. Borlace’s partner, Monique, decided to take the joke a step further and imagine the senior manager wearing a pizza party hat that she had made for him.

“We’re really getting into the spirit of this today, thanks to Mark’s partner Monique for doing the real life emoji for us!” wrote the RAA next to the image.

This has finished me. Now I’m dead,’ Monfries responded to the photos.

Viewers were quick to appreciate the hilarious misstep, too.

“This is fucking funny, the party hat,” said ABC host Britt Clennett.

“I peed when the party hat showed up,” another agreed.

In 2021, Texas-based attorney Rod Pontoon was forced to tell a court he was “not a cat” after he failed to put out a fluffy white cat filter during the process.
