A nine-month-pregnant girl and her unborn child were killed by electrocution as she tried to charge her phone after taking a bath.
Jennifer Karolayne, 17, was killed in the tragic incident in the neighborhood of Monte Castelo, located in Campina Grande, Paraiba State, Brazil, in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 17.
The unborn child did not survive the incident.
After receiving the distress call from the victim’s husband, who has not been named, emergency service teams responded quickly but found the teenager already dead when they arrived at her home.
The victim’s husband – who was at the residence and witnessed the scene – said his wife had just gotten out of the bath and tried to put her phone on charge.

She used an extension cord to power the mobile but was electrocuted and killed in the tragic accident.
Mrs Karolayne’s husband mentioned hearing an unusually loud noise and a scream from his wife.
He then said he rushed to her and found her unconscious on the ground.
He said he tried to help Ms Karolayne, at which point he also received an electric shock.
Ms Karolayne’s mother-in-law said she was nine months pregnant at the time and was expecting to give birth to the child.

However, the police chief said standard procedure dictated that an investigation protocol be launched following the devastating incident.
