“The results will come”: Nine boss stays back Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon claiming that “don’t bother” when show ratings drop to a new low
Despite Karl Stefanovic’s long-awaited return to breakfast TV, the Today show on Thursday recorded the lowest ratings of 2020, with a meager 171,000 meta-viewers tuning in.
But head of news and current affairs, Channel Nine, Darren Wick, says he has faith in his new look panel “that finds its rhythm” among viewers.
Supporting Karl and co-host Allison Langdon as ‘the right team’ for the job, Wick said The Australian on Monday: “Hand in heart, I am not bothered by the reviews.”

The metro ratings measure TV viewers in five capitals: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
The recent results consistently lead Nine’s rival Sunrise in the field of retention of viewers in metro and regional audiences.
However, Wick said: ‘What we (Nine / Today) are doing now is trying to get Australians to look at it again. The results will come. But the show still finds its rhythm; we are not even two months apart. “
Prepared for a long and bumpy road to rating glory, he added, “It would be naive for us not to imagine that it will be a tough journey to win back viewers.”

Karl was famous from the December 2018 program after hosting the long-running TV program for 14 years.
His departure was immediate, with Wick reportedly saying it was “time to step down,” The Guardian claimed at the time.
The announcement came shortly after his marriage to Jasmine Yarbrough, 36, amid growing control over his personal life.
“Thanks to our viewers, you are what matters.” It was a hard time. Thank you for hanging around there, “Karl said in a statement after announcing his departure.

The same month it was announced that Deb and Georgie would leave the program, with Karl returning to Allison.
‘Yes, I am just as shocked by this as everyone else. It is not something that I thought would reappear, “Karl told The Sydney Morning Herald in November when he heard the announcement of his return.
