Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said Tuesday that she thought President Joe Biden should resign following special counsel Robert Hur’s report that questioned his mental acuity.
Haley was interviewed by Conservative radio host Hugh Hewittwho had argued in a Fox News op-ed that Biden should resign, and said on the radio show Tuesday that he believed the 81-year-old president was “deteriorating.”
Hewitt then asked Haley, 52, if she agreed that Biden should resign.
‘Yes, I know that, and I think the Democratic Party knows that. And I think it is not only best for his party, but also best for the country,” said the former UN ambassador.
Haley noted that she has always said that “the party that gets rid of its 80-year-old candidate is the party that will win.”

So far, he has lost Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, where he was not competing, to former President Donald Trump, 77, who still appears to have a hold on Republican voters.
“We can’t have a country in disarray in a world on fire and have 80-year-old presidential candidates,” Haley argued. ‘When we need someone who is going to work eight years on making sure we are disciplined, focused on getting our economy, the border going, preventing war and getting our country back on track.’
Hewitt noted that Republicans are “recoiling in horror” at the prospect of Vice President Kamala Harris being elevated to the top job and called on Haley to weigh in on those fears.
Given that, Haley repeated a phrase that she usually uses in the electoral campaign: that the country is destined to have a female president of the United States.
“It’s either going to be me or it’s going to be Kamala Harris, because if Donald Trump runs, it’s been seen in multiple polls that he can’t win a general election,” Haley said.
Haley also typically argues that Biden will not serve a full second term.
In this case, Hewitt pressed Haley on whether she thought Harris would be able to do the job for a year.
“No, I don’t think Kamala Harris can handle it, but I don’t know if she’s worse or better than Joe Biden,” Haley responded.
“I mean, right now, if you look at the leadership there, it’s terrible no matter what you do,” the former South Carolina governor continued. “But the idea that Russia, China and Iran can see that we have a mentally handicapped president is a threat to all Americans, because right now, what keeps me up at night is what happens between now and the day of elections. ‘
Haley also told Hewitt that she didn’t think Hur crossed a line when talking about Biden’s memory lapses.
The White House and Biden allies have characterized the report as a partisan coup, since Hur was appointed by Trump.
‘I mean, look. “I think we always need to make sure that none of our agencies are political, and that’s why we need to clean them all up,” Haley said.
‘But if you look at the Joe Biden of two years ago, you look at the Joe Biden of now. “He’s not wrong,” he said of Hur’s assessment, which included that a jury would find the 81-year-old president “a sympathetic, well-intentioned old man with a bad memory.”
The report also noted Biden’s “diminished powers.”
‘I mean, look at the press conference Joe Biden gave after that. He was angry. He was, you know, lashing out. But what happened confuses the countries. We see it at a press conference. We see it when they have to hold his hand and help him off stage,” Haley said. “He is not a good image for America.”
