Nikki Garcia has finally opened up about her split from Artem Chigvintsev, months after their marital problems first came to light.
The WWE pro filed for divorce from Artem in September, shortly after an alleged altercation between them led to his arrest for domestic violence. They share their four-year-old son Matteo together.
“In recent months I disconnected from social networks, from the world, and I knew I needed to disconnect because first things first, I am a mother and the protection and privacy of my son is the most important thing,” she said in the podcast she presents with his sister Bella, The Nikki and Brie Show.
“I was going to do whatever it took for that, most importantly, and then I just needed space to heal, to face the trauma head-on.”
‘It’s been hard. It’s been really hard. They have broken my heart. Sad,’ he said.
‘You dream of having this family and you have this incredible love, and everything happens the other way around. You go from having a great love story to having a terrible one.’
