Nicole Kidman’s adopted children, son Connor and daughter Bella, are supporting the actress following the death of their beloved mother Janelle.

Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, reportedly wrote a heartfelt note to Nicole after she revealed that her beloved mother died at the age of 84, just hours before she was awarded Best Actress for her role in Babygirl at the Venice Film Festival.

According Women’s DayThe actress is happy to hear from her children and would love to have them “back in her life.”

“The most comforting thing for Nicole was receiving a joint message from Bella and Connor, who she hadn’t heard from in a long time,” a source said.

“It’s a little sad that it took such a tragic moment to bring them back into her life, but she knows her mother would be very happy if her passing brought her estranged grandchildren back into the family.”

The source also said that Nicole is willing to take some time away from her career to give her relationship with her children “the best it can be.”

Bella and Connor are the only children Nicole shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise; the couple adopted their daughter in 1992 and their son in 1995.

The Hollywood couple married in 1990 and divorced in 2001. Tom now shares a daughter, Suri Cruise, 17, with ex-wife Katie Holmes, and Nicole had two children, Sunday Rose, 15, and Faith Margaret, 13, with second husband Keith Urban.

Little is known about Nicole’s current relationship with Bella and Connor, as they reportedly remained “loyal to their father” following her split from the Top Gun star in 2001, meaning they were raised in the controversial Church of Scientology.

Nicole has refused to speak about religion or her family ties in recent years, but is said to have been absent from many of her children’s life events, including Bella’s wedding at the Dorchester Hotel in London in 2015, despite living in the city at the time.

The Big Little Lies star has not been publicly photographed with her two eldest children since 2007 and was reportedly left “devastated” after the couple failed to attend her father’s funeral in 2014.

In 2018, while accepting her Golden Globe for Best Actress, the Nine Perfect Strangers star thanked her biological daughters and second husband Keith Urban, but did not mention Connor or Bella.

The actress rarely talks about the couple and says she wants to keep the relationship private, but has spoken about how they “chose Scientology” and “don’t call her mom.”

Connor and Bella also did not attend the Nicole Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony in Los Angeles in April.

Nicole has long had an incredibly close relationship with her beloved mother Janelle and has often spoken about her support and influence on her career over the years.

Nicole was born in Honolulu and raised in Sydney by Janelle and her psychologist father Antony, who died in September 2014.

After spending time in the United States, the Moulin Rouge star and her younger sister Antonia spent much of their childhood in Sydney.

Nicole pursued her passion for acting as a teenager and received support from both of her parents as she rose to worldwide fame.

The two remained closely involved with each other’s careers over the years, with Nicole recently admitting that she still turned to her mother for advice.

In November, the Big Little Lies star revealed how she often asked her mother, Janelle, for advice on her outfits, despite working with many professional stylists.

As a sign of their close bond, Nicole told People: “My mom is still… she’s very involved in what I wear.”

Nicole had an equally close relationship with her father Antony and was devastated when he died of a heart attack in September 2014 at the age of 75.

The Oscar-winning actress previously revealed that her father’s “sudden” death, as well as a series of other losses, had affected her deeply.

“I’ve been given a sudden death. I haven’t been caring for anyone through a slow death, I’ve just been taken away,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2020.

“It’s happened to me several times, I’m almost afraid to say it because I’m afraid it will happen again. I’m still very afraid of it.”
