So Nicole Kidman, 52, shocked fans when she uploaded the latest trailer for her new movie The Goldfinch on Instagram on Thursday.

Nicole seemed barely recognizable in some frames of the clip and played rich socialite Mrs Barbour, complete with wrinkles and gray hair.

Nicole sees a convincing tear in the new trailer as she speaks to actor Ansel Elgort – who plays her adopted son Theo Decker.

For the upcoming film, the red-haired star is Mrs. Barbour – a New York socialite who takes in orphan Theo Decker (Ansel Elgort) after his mother dies.

The Goldfinch is based on the Pulitzer-winning 2013 book by Donna Tartt and tells the story of Theo, who miraculously survives a bombing raid in the Metropolitan Museum of Art that killed his mother.
