She recalled: ‘I arrived in Venice and she was gone. I received the call. I said to Halina, “Can you come up on stage for me?”

Nicole was born in Honolulu and raised in Sydney by her beloved mother Janelle and psychologist father Antony, who died in September 2014.

Nicole is known for her bold fashion choices, but she said it was her mother and grandmother who first fostered her love of clothes.

‘I love fashion. “I’ve always loved fashion,” she gushed while speaking at the launch of the Planet Omega pop-up in New York.

‘I grew up as a girl with a grandmother who loved fashion and knew how to sew, and so did my mother. They loved pretty clothes. “They could make nice clothes,” he continued.

‘I saw them sew, embroider and knit. And I think when you grow up watching people from home do that, then you love it.”
