Ally McCoist criticized Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson for not being “brave” enough in Tuesday’s derby against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Jackson was tasked with being Chelsea’s main source of goals (in the absence of Cole Palmer, who missed the game due to illness) and squandered a great scoring opportunity.
The 22-year-old endured a difficult weekend in which he missed chances in Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final against Man City and his struggles continued against Arsenal.
Jackson had a chance to connect with a header from close range in the first half, but ended up wasting the opportunity as he lost track of the ball while it was in the air.
The Chelsea star appeared to close his eyes as he tried to touch the cross and saw his effort diminish when the ball hit his hand next to his face.

Scottish football legend McCoist was stunned by Jackson’s mistaken attempt and told the former Villarreal striker to be “braver”.
‘Jackson puts his hands up for some reason. “I have no idea,” McCoist said on TNT Sports.
‘You have to be braver. I can tell you right now that you have to be braver.
“He’s an old-fashioned centre-forward,” McCoist added as Arsenal took further control of the match.
Arsenal took advantage of Chelsea’s problems in front of goal when Leandro Trossard opened the scoring in the first half with a good finish.
Goals from former Chelsea playmaker Kai Havertz and Ben White saw Arsenal exert even more control over proceedings.
