After being promised the ‘most exciting season yet’, Bridgerton fans were left somewhat disappointed by the lack of regency games in the first part of season three.
However, show bosses have more than delivered with part two of the period drama, with episode five of the series featuring a six-minute-long sex scene between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
Fans were treated to the spicy scene on Thursday morning when Netflix released the final four episodes.
In the explicit scene, Luke was comforting Penelope after a fight with her mother about her engagement, during which time they began kissing.
Luke then began to grope his fiancée before unbuttoning her corset and admiring her naked figure.
Bridgerton episode five features a six-minute long sex scene between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
The pair then headed to the sun lounger where Luke’s bare bottom was on display before touching each other intimately.
They checked on each other constantly, with Penelope saying, “tell me what to do,” and Luke offering, “could you touch me.”
After warning his virginal girlfriend that this “might hurt,” the couple had sex, with Penelope asking at the end “can we do it again?” to which Colin joked: “give me 5 minutes, maybe 10.”
The spicy scene lasted a total of six minutes, which was the combined duration of all the steamy moments in the first part.
Although it is the most shocking, Colin and Penelope’s scene was not the first exciting moment of the second part.
Less than five minutes into episode five, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) was spotted in bed with widow Lady Tilley Arnold, but his antics remained firmly under the covers.
Nicola and Luke previously revealed they filmed so many games that they eventually felt comfortable lounging together naked between takes.
The Derry Girls star previously revealed: ‘I think we’ve got the sass out of this series!’ while she detailed the sex scenes.

She teased what fans can expect to see, telling Entertainment Weekly: “We broke a piece of furniture while doing a scene.” It’s a bit of a gimmick where they say, ‘Okay, we’ll do this, this, and this.’
“But then they gave us freedom and we had a lot of say in how we did those scenes and what we wanted to do. That makes you feel quite empowered.
‘So we feel great. In fact, they were really nice. I didn’t think they would be. It was fun.’
She also revealed in an interview with Radio Times: ‘There’s one where I’m very naked on camera and that was my idea, my choice.
“I just felt like the biggest ‘fuck you’ in all the conversations about my body. It was incredibly empowering. Having seen those scenes, I’m so proud of them.”
When recently told she was “brave” to film sex scenes, Nicola joked: “You know, it’s hard, because I think women with my body type, women with perfect breasts, we can’t see ourselves on screen enough, and I’m very proud as a member of the perfect breasts community.’
Despite her confidence now, the actress previously admitted that she was initially terrified of filming sex scenes with Luke.
She said on The One Show: ‘It’s not something to watch with the family. Take from that what you will.
‘It was terrifying. I’m an Irish woman and any Irish woman would feel like she can’t do this. And then I went and realized it’s my job, so I better do it.
‘I had a great partner and it was scary, but really liberating. By the end I was exhausted.”
Nicola also confirmed that she and her co-star Luke were “so comfortable” that they would lounge together naked between filming sex scenes.
Colin and Penelope’s passion was slow going in the first part as the couple slowly realized their true feelings for each other.
