Golf influencer Paige Spiranac says fans should lower their expectations when it comes to Tiger Woods’ 15-year-old son Charlie and his promising young golf career.

Charlie played in his first PGA Tour pre-qualifier on Thursday and struggled, shooting an 86 and missing Monday’s qualifier for the Cognizant Classic.

“How about we let Charlie Woods develop his game without constant media coverage?” Sprianac wrote on Twitter.

“Golf is enough of a mental challenge without having to put all the eyes on it and the pressure.”

Part of Charlie’s experience was ruined by a group of fans who were getting too close for comfort as the 15-year-old attempted to participate in his first PGA Tour event.

That included his mother, Elin Nordegren, who watched as Tiger was elsewhere.

Charlie had trouble with his driver, including an early tee shot that went wide into the gross and sent fans running to try to grab the ball.

Eventually, they began making their way into the countryside, following it through the streets after officials told them to stick to the cart paths. A fan asked lightly: ‘Who are you? The fire chief?

Among the fans was a grandmother, “who found out that [Charlie] She was competing and pulled her granddaughter out of school in hopes Woods would notice her.

On the 12th hole, as Charlie walked away, another fan approached him and demanded that he sign a copy of his father’s book ‘How I Play Golf’. Smarr writes that when officials told the fan it wasn’t allowed, “she made a commotion of silences and shouts, including ‘I live here’ as Woods teed off on the 13th hole.”

Fortunately for Woods, things didn’t get any worse thanks to a two-man security team, including a local sheriff’s deputy.
