Nick Carter is facing allegations of sexual assault and battery from singer Melissa Schumann in a new lawsuit over a 2002 incident in Santa Monica, California.

Carter’s attorney said the latest legal move from Schumann regarding the alleged assault is “at once predictable and pathetic” amid ongoing progress in the Nevada litigation.

It called Schumann’s latest filing a “public relations stunt” and vowed that it would not distract the singer from his determination to hold Ms. Schumann and her co-conspirators accountable for the immeasurable pain and suffering their extortionate behavior had caused.
