Niantic has a new Pikmin augmented reality experiment for your mobile browser, called Pikmin Finderwhich allows you to collect pikmin from any ancient location and send them to collect treasure for you (through nintendo life). It’s basically a cute distilled version of 2021. Bloom Pikmin, and unless you’re hopelessly enchanted by Shigeru Miyamoto’s imaginary garden creatures, it’s only good for a couple of minutes of fun. And the only official acknowledgment that it exists seems to be a support article.

You start by pointing your phone’s camera at a surface, look around for the telltale pikmin stalk sticking out of the ground, and swipe up near it to pluck the little one off. Once you’ve found the two or three nearby pikmin, you can tap a button to send them off-screen in search of some treasure, which they’ll present to you again a few minutes later. And that is.
