Preparations for Chelsea’s Champions League final have taken a positive turn with the news that N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy were part of the traveling 25-man squad that flew to Porto on Thursday.
Kante and Mendy – with the latter pictured aboard the plane – have both been fitness issues for Saturday’s showpiece in Portugal against Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Kante sustained a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Leicester on May 18, while Mendy hurt his ribs in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa.

However, the pair returned to training on Wednesday and then flew with the Blues squad from Gatwick Airport.
“N’Golo looks good and I hope he stays that way on Saturday,” said Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel official website of the club on Thursday.
‘Edou has made a huge improvement in pain management from the moment the injury occurred, and that’s good. We hope to have it back. When he is fit, Edou plays. ‘
Chelsea are looking to win their second Champions League, and their first in nine years, when they take on favorite City at the weekend.

Antonio Rudiger took to Twitter to share a photo of himself showing his thumb up as he was about to board the plane.
‘Next destination is Porto #Hustle #AlwaysBelieve #UCLfinal’, he wrote next to the photo.
Broad men Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi were photographed sitting side by side on the plane, while striker Timo Werner and deputy left back Emerson Palmieri were also photographed.
