NFL Wild Card Round: Top DFS picks and fades

Fantasy season is over, but there’s no reason we can’t have some fun in the playoffs. Here are some DFS tips (and possible prop plays) I have my eye on for Wild Card weekend.

The defense of Tampa Bay It’s been a funnel all year — smothers the run and the pass tears it apart. That puts the game in Daniels’ hands to begin with, and he’s been a dynamic running back most of the year, with the brief exception when a rib injury bothered him. Daniels had 88 rushing yards in the September matchup between these teams, and I expect another explosive running game from the rookie star.

The Broncos did not hide Nix during the regular season, as the Broncos ranked sixth in approval rate above expectations. Nix’s career stats have been up and down, but he was a more proactive runner over his last four games. The weather forecast is also unusually mild for the Buffalo area, giving Denver players some extra energy for unique contests.

The cost is seven dollars higher than Matthew Stafford’s salary on Monday, but that’s a check I’m cutting. Darnold was a breakout star for four months this year; I’m not going to waste that because the Lions ate their lunch in Week 18. The Vikings already have tape on the Rams, Kevin O’Connell is a smart coach I trust, and the LAR defense It is probably the worst of the teams that made the playoffs.

It’s not a cheap ticket, but it’s also eight dollars cheaper than Saquon Barkley’s. Tampa Bay headed toward Irving how it appears after the rest weekand Washington has the worst run defense DVOA (26th) of the playoff teams.

Buffalo has struggled to find consistent play from its outside receivers this year, and it’s pretty clear that someone will essentially be sacrificed for Patrick Surtain II, Denver’s coverage ace, in this matchup. But looks are usually clean for Shakir, who is the simplest read and most likely route when Allen needs to make a quick throw. Shakir is the only thing you can set your watch for in this passing offense.

Every DFS lineup needs a money-saving play somewhere, and Zaccheaus may be that guy. Note that his role grew in the latter stages of the season: he had 51, 85 and 70 yards in his final three weeks. Skate to where the puck is going.

With Mike Evans likely matching up with Marshon Lattimore, McMillan’s role is likely to increase. And the rookie from Tampa improved significantly down the stretch, scoring seven touchdowns in his last five games.

The salary isn’t eye-opening, but the Packers have a messy slot at wide receiver right now and are finding ways to free up Kraft most weeks. The athletic Kraft has a reception of 20 yards or more in five consecutive weeks, showing off nifty RAC ability and fitting well into Green Bay’s screen packages.

Most weeks it’s tough to fit Likely into your lineup, but with star WR Zay Flowers out of the picture, the Ravens are incentivized to find a hybrid role for the uber-athletic Likely. This is a punt play that has potential advantages.

I get it, you look at the cheap salary and think about paying as a quarterback. I’m worried it’s a trap. Pittsburgh has the lowest expected team total of the weekend, and Wilson was stumbling down the stretch (four straight losses and a 5.2 YPA in his last two games). And it’s not like there’s an obvious receiver to pair with Wilson: George Pickens is also down, and someone I’ll swoon over even with a reasonable $20 tag.

It hasn’t been a productive year for older quarterbacks, and that includes Stafford, who will turn 37 in February. His last three weeks might have scared you: 153 yards per game, just one touchdown, 5.6 YPA. Cooper Kupp is another Ram veteran I’m going to avoid.

It was almost as if Brown had been traded back to the Titans, averaging a modest 7.46 goals per game. The Eagles rank 30th in passing rate above expectations; This is an offense that runs to set up more runs. And we know that when Philadelphia gets close, Jalen Hurts owns all the touchdowns. Brown’s salary is too expensive for my Sunday preparations.
