There are only a few perfect brackets left in the world after a day full of upsets and close calls in March Madness.
For example, ESPN’s ‘Tournament Challenge’ saw 22.6 million brackets filled out — but only 1,825 of them remained perfect after the first day of the NCAA Tournament.
But some of the lucky few out there have their brackets remain untouched through the first day – one of them being Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson.
Robinson was able to navigate the March Madness minefield on day one and came out unscathed as upsets reigned throughout Thursday.
That included three eleven-over-six upsets and a nighttime 14-seed over three-seed win that instantly destroyed nearly every bracket in the country.
There are only a few thousand perfect brackets left in the world – and Bijan Robinson has one
The Atlanta Falcons running back was able to survive Thursday’s stretch of upset wins
Duquesne and Oakland were just two of the biggest upsets on the tournament’s first day
Now, Robinson will have to be lucky to stay perfect through the rest of the tournament.
Among his picks include 12-seed Grand Canyon and 11-seed NC State going all the way to the Elite Eight.
Plus, he has his alma mater — the 7-seed Texas Longhorns — win the national title over UConn.
Among the many upsets from Thursday included three eleven-seeds beating six-seeds: Duquesne beat BYU, NC State got past Texas Tech and Oregon managed to beat South Carolina.
But the highlight of the night was when the 14-seed Oakland Golden Grizzlies knocked off blue-blood school and three-seed Kentucky in Pittsburgh.
Around. 19:00 Thursday, of the over 22m brackets in ESPN’s ‘Tournament Challenge’, only 2.6 percent were perfect. By the end of the night, it fell to 0.008 percent.
