Football fans are outraged after Sunday's NFL RedZone broadcast once again featured ads

Football fans are seething again after Sunday’s NFL RedZone broadcast featured commercials for the second week in a row.

The NFL sparked outrage last weekend after breaking the long trend of commercial-free football on RedZone, simulcasting every Sunday game from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET.

Regular presenter Scott Hanson was even forced to apologize earlier this week for opening last Sunday’s show with his famous catchphrase ‘seven hours of commercial-free football’ before showing four sets of adverts during the broadcast.

But despite his apology, and despite the NFL’s insistence that last weekend’s commercials were merely a “test,” the latest edition of RedZone featured them again.

Hanson even adjusted his slogan before Sunday’s games started, simply saying, “From now on, it’s seven o’clock RedZone football.”

“Leave it to @NFL to destroy the best product they have. So disappointing,” one user wrote on X.

Another wrote: ‘Really disgusting. A billion dollar company can’t just be satisfied with their ungodly amounts of money. I have to ruin what everyone enjoys.”

A third stated: ‘Commercials during RedZone are an absolute crime against humanity and I’m not kidding.’

While one person simply commented: ‘An obscene disgrace.’

Following the backlash to last week’s episode, Hanson admitted he was “conflicted” over the use of the signature catchphrase while apologizing to NFL fans.

“Hey everyone. As we start a great weekend of football, I wanted to take a moment and apologize for using the ad-free slogan at the top of the last show,” he said in a video message on social media.

‘I was already conflicted about it beforehand. I had to make a tough decision and I made the wrong decision, and I’m sorry.

‘I try to be the best host I can be. What we shared together and what we saw and experienced together for sixteen seasons on NFL RedZone is incredible. I love it. I hope to be able to do this for another 16 years.

“But being a great host means being accurate, honest and with integrity – and that’s why I hope you’ll consider accepting this apology.”
