NFL power rankings: Where the 49ers stand after loss to the Vikings Originally appeared in NBC Bay Area Sports

Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season is here, and it was just as crazy as last week.

Big injuries to star players The contending teams are struggling, while the bottom teams shocked the world with big upsets. Is there reason for concern in San Francisco? Are the Saints one of the best teams in the NFC? Are we writing off the Raiders and Patriots?

Here’s where the 49ers and the rest of the league stand heading into Week 3.

Record: 0-2

This team exists solely as an argument for relegation in the NFL. I wake up on Sunday mornings dreading watching them play football.

Record: 0-2

This offense is still putrid beyond belief. Their defense keeps them in games, but Bo Nix He just says, “No, I’m fine.”

Record: 0-2

Malik Nabers is the best receiver Daniel Jones He had a great game in Week 2, but I fear for his future. Only because of Daniel Jones.

Record: 0-2

It will be Levis He can’t stop losing the ball. He’s proving to be a huge liability.

28. New England Patriots (Last week: 29)

Record: 1-1

Rookie coach Jerod Mayo’s team plays with a lot of fight. While Rhamondre Stevenson Follow the ball, Jacoby Brissett It just needs to be average.

Record: 1-1

Another solid game with no turnovers from the rookie Jayden Danielswho distributed the ball well to all his players and left Brian Robinson Do the heavy lifting on the field. This is a rebuilding team that is headed in the right direction.

26. Las Vegas Raiders (Last week: 28)

Record: 1-1

Gardner Minshew He tore apart a suspect (?) Ravens secondary. Turns out getting the ball to your two best weapons is a recipe for success. I may have been too hard on the Silver and Black last week.

Record: 0-2

This team is pretty boring and pretty mediocre. Trevor Lawrence on #FraudWatch.

Record: 0-2

Me literally last week: “Antonio Richardson “It’s unbelievable. Keep pushing it and don’t look back.” Good thing I’m not an NFL coach, because…

Record: 1-1

There will be a learning curve for Caleb Williamsat least for a few weeks. Fortunately for Chicago, they have the defense to back it up. An offensive line? Not so much. Thinking the Bears would surprise everyone and suddenly become an 11- or 12-win team in an offseason was premature.

Record: 0-2

A shaky defense was battered by the Birds. Matthew Stafford I could have lost Cooper Kupp due to an ankle injury a week after losing Puka Nacua and two offensive linemen. Is the sky starting to fall in Los Angeles?

Record: 2-0

They beat up on a bad team, but this offense still lacks receivers. J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards However, they are an excellent one-two punch on the ground.

Record: 1-1

He Kyler MurrayMarvin Harrison Jr. The connection is alive and well. Watch out, NFC West!

Record: 1-1

From Tua Tagovailoa Health is of utmost importance. I’m not sure how they’ll move forward in the next few weeks, but they’re not going to be anywhere near the same team with Skylar Thompson under the center for the foreseeable future.

Record: 2-0

They barely managed a win over the Pats. Geno Smith I got it through the air, but this is a different team without Kenneth WalkerTwo very easy games to start the season. I still can’t believe it.

Record: 1-1

It was a slow start offensively, but Kirk’s cousins And the offense finally picked up in the second half and showed flashes of its great potential. It was a stunning upset and the defense also seems to have improved a lot.

Record: 2-0

They dominated the reigning NFC champions. Sam Darnold And the boys are officially frisky. A very, very impressive victory. Fortunately, By Justin Jefferson The injury does not appear to be serious.

Record: 1-1

This team sucks, even when they win. I guess it was a good recovery game for the defense.

Record: 1-1

Malik Willis I did enough and Josh Jacobs He did the heavy lifting on the ground. That’s the recipe for success so far. Jordanian love come back.

Record: 2-0

Justin Fields He has played well instead of Russell WilsonBut this offense needs an upgrade at quarterback. Is DangerRuss still that player? The defense can take them until they have an answer.

Record: 2-0

The offense kept going and they pulled off a blowout win over Dallas. Don’t look now, but New Orleans could be a real team.

Record: 0-2

A step in the right direction against the defending champs. No need to worry for now in Cincy, they’ll figure it out.

Record: 1-1

The defense is getting back into shape and Aaron Rodgers got his first win (in a game that ended) in a Jets uniform. RELAX.

Record: 2-0

A win over the Lions on the road? A rematch. They are a good football team. It’s hard not to root for them. Baker MayfieldRespect them.

Record: 2-0

They broke the Dolphins’ brakes and their defense seems to be pretty legitimate. Josh Allen and company continue to find ways to achieve this.

Record: 1-1

They were humiliated by Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara At home, the ground game is non-existent. Dak Prescott I can’t do it all. There are so many things to clean.

6. Baltimore Ravens (Last week: 3)

Record: 0-2

Are they letting Minshew and the Raiders get the better of them after leading by 10 points in the fourth quarter at home? This defense might not be what it was last year.

Record: 1-1

Jared Goff Jared Goff takes the prize. I have a feeling the Lions won’t live up to their hype, but it’s still early.

Record: 1-1

It wasn’t an explosive game offensively by any means, but Jalen hurts He is still able to carry the equipment on his back without AJ BrownThat defensive secondary still looks like Swiss cheese, though. This game was a perfect representation of their 2023 season.

3. San Francisco 49ers (Last week: 2)

Record: 1-1

It turns out that Christian McCaffrey It’s a pretty big deal. Both teams stunk for most of the game. There’s something about playing in Minnesota that haunts the 49ers. Frustrating loss for Kyle Shanahan’s team which usually requires one or two wake-up calls each season.

Record: 2-0

When CJ Stroud And Houston’s offense struggled, but the defense held up time and time again. It wasn’t a great performance against the Bears’ stout defense, but if the Texans have a defense… watch out.

Record: 2-0

Never, never, never bet against Patrick Mahomes With the game on the line, “Burrowhead” is a thing of the past. No one is tearing down the champions right now.
