Another controversial call went in the Chiefs’ favor on Sunday night, and NFL fans aren’t happy.
With the Falcons facing a crucial third-and-five from the Chiefs’ six-yard line late in the fourth quarter, Kirk Cousins saw his attempt toward Kyle Pitts fall incomplete in the end zone.
However, Kansas City safety Bryan Cook appeared to be lucky not to be penalized for pass interference, as he had his arms around Pitts and was not facing the ball while it was in the air.
The Falcons, who would have had a first-and-goal from the 1-yard line if a foul had been called, then failed to convert a fourth-and-five moments later before ultimately seeing a final drive halted and losing 22-17.
And with this being the second week in a row that a pass interference call (or non-call) has gone to the Chiefs, fans took to X on Sunday to rage about Cook’s non-call, with some even claiming the NFL was “rigged.”
Bryan Cook was not called for pass interference on Kyle Pitts despite having his arms around him and not turning his head toward the ball.
The pass was incomplete and the Falcons would eventually lose the game 22-17 at home.
“When you play the Chiefs, you have different rules,” one said.
“This type of thing happens almost week in and week out with the Chiefs, and the inconsistency should raise questions,” added a second fan.
A third fan added: “Once again, the refs save the Chiefs. At this point, they should be given their third straight title as the NFL will not let them lose.”
And a fourth said: “The NFL is rigged for the Chiefs… I’ve seen everything I need to know. How can they not call (defensive pass interference) on Pitts there?”
Last weekend, Kansas City was on fourth-and-16 trailing 25-23 to the Bengals, and Mahomes’ pass to Rashee Rice was incomplete.
However, Cincinnati’s Daijahn Anthony was flagged for pass interference after jumping into Rice’s back.
Many fans He agreed that this was the right decision.although the Cowboys’ Micah Parsons said afterward that the referees favored the Bengals “a little bit more” in the game.
However, the Chiefs are now 3-0 and are unlikely to care much what their critics think.
