And a fountain in downtown Kansas City also turned red ahead of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LV appearance in 2021.
Despite their 15-2 regular season record, the Chiefs were not at their best this year, at least on the offensive end.
Their +59 point differential was only 11th best in the league, and they only reached 30 points in a game on two occasions (one of which was in an overtime win against the Bucs).
Fans have also complained all season that the Chiefs have been favored by the referees.
“I don’t feel that way,” quarterback Patrick Mahomes told reporters at a news conference.
‘I just try to play football at the end of the day. The referees are doing everything they can to call the game as fair and proper as they can, and all you can do is go out and play the game you love as hard as you can and live with the results.’
