NFL coaching requests, hires: Full list of teams and names being pursued

Black Monday in the NFL, the day after the final game of the season, is typically a day of layoffs. And while Black Monday 2025 still had some firings (Doug Pederson of the Jacksonville Jaguars and several league coordinators), the Chicago Bears, New York Jets and New Orleans Saints had fired their head coaches earlier in the season and had They already did their homework.

That turned Black Monday into a day of interview requests. Not just a few, but a massive flood that threatened to drown anyone who tried to keep up.

But Yahoo Sports is here to help you. Below you can find a list of which teams have requested interviews with which coaches and coordinators, and when those interviews will take place. Lists will be updated as new information becomes available.

The Jets will reportedly interview 13 people for their head coaching position, a number that includes both currently employed coordinators/coaches and several former head coaches who are not actively coaching for an NFL team.

  • Aaron Glenn, defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions

  • Matt Nagy, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator and former Bears head coach

  • Brian Flores, Vikings defensive coordinator and former Miami Dolphins head coach

  • Josh McCown, Vikings quarterbacks coach

  • Arthur Smith, offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers and former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons

  • Mike Vrabel, former head coach of the Tennessee Titans

  • Ron Rivera, former head coach of the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders

  • Rex Ryan, former head coach of the Jets and Buffalo Bills

  • Brian Griese, quarterbacks coach of the San Francisco 49ers

  • Vance Joseph, defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos

  • Bobby Slowik, Houston Texans offensive coordinator

  • Joe Brady, Bills offensive coordinator

  • Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich

The Bears will reportedly interview 11 people for the job Matt Eberflus was ousted from midway through the 2024 season.

  • Drew Petzing, offensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals

  • Todd Monken, offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens

  • David Shaw, Broncos senior personnel executive and former Stanford head coach

Jaguars have requested interviews with eight candidates.

The Saints’ roster reportedly contains seven candidates so far.

The New England Patriots have been widely connected to Vrabel, who played for them in the early 2000s. but they reportedly requested an interview with Johnson. And according to Mike Jones of The Athletic, they will be interviewing Byron Leftwich, former Buccaneers offensive coordinator.

Some interview dates have been reported, while other teams have not yet given permission for potential candidates to interview for another job. There will also likely be a second and possibly a third round of interviews for candidates who impress multiple teams.
