Neymar took a moment to let the magnitude of PSG’s aggregate victory over Bayern Munich sink in and almost seemed to burst into tears on Tuesday night.
The Brazilian was pictured sitting on the field with his head in his hands after Mauricio Pochettino’s side secured a place in the Champions League semi-final.
Neymar is desperate for the Champions League with the French side and Jamie Carragher believes his legacy at the club will be determined by it, but added that players of the striker’s quality should not play their trade in Ligue 1 .

The expert continued CBS Sport: ‘His legacy depends on the Champions League. That’s because that’s why he went there, to do something the club has never done before and also to win the Ballon d’Or, those were the two reasons he went there.
He also went there to get out of Messi’s shadow at Barcelona, the best players in the world go year after year for the Ballon d’Or and he felt he couldn’t win it there.
If PSG wins the Champions League this year, it will be a pitch between him and Kylian Mbappé that wins the win. So those are the reasons he went.
‘I don’t like to see him there, I don’t think players of the quality of Mbappé and Neymar should play for PSG. They shouldn’t play in the French league, it’s a bad competition, an average competition. Players of that quality shouldn’t be playing in the French league week after week, that’s not good enough. ‘

Carragher clearly feels that Neymar’s time at the club will be seen as flawed if he doesn’t lead them to the prize they are looking for in Europe, having just fallen short last year.
PSG retaliated against the German giants after a defeat in the 2020 final, a burning failure that brought Neymar to tears and saw him being comforted by David Alaba, a stylish gesture he paid back to the Austrian.
Neymar hugged him and mumbled a few kind words while being the star of the show for PSG full-time, despite the hosts losing 1-0 on the evening thanks to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s goal.
