Christian McCaffrey has come to the defence of his wife, Olivia Culpo, after a style influencer called her Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress “nothing” and “lacking personality”.
The 28-year-old NFL star, who married the 32-year-old former Miss Universe winner over the weekend in Rhode Island, jumped into the comments section of Kennedy Bingham’s blog. Instagram video on Tuesday where she shared her opinion on the dress.
“What a mean thing to post on the internet,” the San Francisco 49ers running back wrote. “I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, like my beautiful wife does.”
However, Bingham hit back at the sports star, writing: “@christianmccaffrey So the bad thing is pointing out the potential internalised misogyny behind his reasoning…”

The NFL star jumped into the comments section of Kennedy Bingham’s Instagram video on Tuesday, where she shared her thoughts on the dress.
“What a wicked thing to post on the internet,” the San Francisco 49ers running back wrote. “I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, like my beautiful wife does.”
In the comments section of the same reel uploaded to the influencer’s TikTok page, Olivia herself shared her thoughts, also responding to Kennedy’s criticism.
“Wow, what an evil person you are. I hope no one rips you to pieces like this because it is extremely painful. I love this dress and it was everything I ever wanted and more,” the model wrote.
Bingham posted a screenshot of Culpo’s response to her own Instagram stories, as well as her response.

Kennedy also wrote additional text over the image, adding: “Why do they keep using the word evil?”
“As if it’s not bad enough for you that D&G calls IVF babies synthetic, but me talking about your wedding dress crosses the line?” the influencer asked.
The media personality, who now has nearly 100,000 followers, began the nearly six-minute video by saying: “I’ve been a wedding dress designer for almost four years and I’ve never said this before. But I don’t like this wedding dress.”
She explained that if she just looked at the dress, “she would see a beautiful bride and a beautiful, simple, elegant dress.”
“Wow, what an evil person you are. I hope no one ever tears you apart like this because it is extremely painful. I love this dress and it was everything I ever wanted and more,” the model wrote.
The media personality, who currently has nearly 100,000 followers, began the nearly six-minute clip by saying: “I’ve been a wedding dress designer for almost four years and I’ve never said this before. But I don’t like this wedding dress.”
However, Bingham added: “But it’s what surrounds the dress that leaves a kind of bitter aftertaste.”
Kennedy then referenced Olivia’s recent interview with Fashion where she spoke about the wedding dress and explained that she “didn’t want it to exude sex in any way.”
“There’s nothing wrong with wanting a modest wedding dress, or just modest attire in general,” she continued, but then added that Culpo “pushed this idea of what she thinks all brides should look like.”
‘… So treating this as a sexless design seems really strange to me because, it’s your choice if you don’t want to exude sex in this dress, but also, if people want to sexualize you, it’s not your fault if they do.’

Bingham then said she found it “weird” how Culpo “talks about the coverage, especially as someone in her everyday life is not exactly someone who dresses modestly.”
“She even says that her husband thinks she is more beautiful when she is timeless, covered and elegant. I think the use of the word ‘covered’ is very unpleasant because you are not covered in everyday life.”
“And also, why does he think you’re the most beautiful when you’re covered up? It’s very strange,” Kennedy said.
“There’s nothing wrong with wanting a modest wedding dress, or just modest attire in general,” she continued, but then added that Culpo “pushed this idea of what she thinks all brides should look like.”

She also said it was “strange” that Culpo was promoting a “conservative agenda” and began to draw attention back to the wedding dress.
“There is no personality in this dress,” she added, “This is nothing. It is the absence of personality.”
In closing, Kennedy said: “It’s very clear that this was not a wedding. It was a conservative campaign, and it wasn’t even well done…”

The crepe ball gown had long sleeves, a full skirt, a train and also a row of buttons down the back that secured the dress.
A 16-foot sheer veil was added to the top of her head to complete the look and had an embroidered lace edge.
“I didn’t want it to exude sex in any way,” Culpo said of the wedding dress. “I wanted it to look spontaneous and to complement me, not overpower me. There’s so much beauty and simplicity.”
