Newly single Lily James has described herself as a “serial relationship person” and has claimed that guys are “rubbish” on the dating app Hinge.
It comes just weeks after her reported split with her bass-playing boyfriend of two years Michael Shuman was revealed.
The actress, 33, appeared on the Capital Breakfast show Monday morning to discuss her dating life.
Hosts Roman Kemp and Sian Welby told Lily: ‘We talk about love life quite a bit on this show’
Sian continued, “We do, and we kind of laugh at our own past experiences that went horribly wrong. Your character Zoe has a lot of bad luck in love. Can you identify with this, is there anything, in your past if you go, I still cringe’

Lily then explained, “I cringe at most of the things I do. Yes I’ve been kind of a serial so I haven’t had any crazy dating stories but I recently went on my friends hinge and I was just desperate. I mean come on!
Roman asked, “What do you mean?” to which Lily replied, “The boys, they were rubbish”
Sian then asked Lily, “What were the problems?”
Lily joked, “I’m sure some girls are c*ap too, but men are worse. There’s a line in the movie where my character looks at this guy and he has a sentimental quote and she says “He’s fit enough that I overlook the sentimental quote” which is “every day is a new rainbow” but that would have been a bit of a letdown for me.’
Sian commented that “Sentimental quotes are out” and Lily added, “Not at the first glance at anyone, a little banter, I sound like I’m on Love Island!”
It’s because Lily has reportedly split from Michael after a two-year romance.
The pair called time on their relationship after growing apart in recent months, The Sun claims.
The couple were first linked in February 2021 after they were spotted sharing a kiss outside a Suffolk boutique hotel while singing What’s Love Got To Do With It? filmed.
They then made their red carpet debut at the 2022 Oscars, where they looked loved up.
A source told the publication, “Lily and Michael have grown apart over the past few months and have now decided to end their relationship.
“They just couldn’t make it work as a couple, but they both wish each other the best for the future.”

Lily explained, “I cringe at most of the things I do. Yes I’ve been kind of a serial so I haven’t had any crazy dating stories but I recently went on my friends hinge and I was just desperate. I mean come on!’
The actress’s relationship with Michael initially came as a shock to fans of the couple, as Lily is known for her family-friendly roles in Downton Abbey, Cinderella, and Mamma Mia.
Meanwhile, Michael is a member of Queens Of The Stone Age, the band infamous for onstage nudity and claims of drug and alcohol abuse.
In August 2012, Lily sparked speculation that Michael had proposed as she headed to Melrose Avenue, California with a gold ring on her engagement finger.
However, a representative for Lily said of speculation about a proposal from Michael, “This is 100% not true.”

The American star would stay in the hotel where Lily was quarantined with cast and crew for the film What’s Love Got To Do With It?.
An eyewitness told the Daily Mail at the time: ‘Lily’s driver arrived just after 9am, then she and Michael emerged from the hotel together a few minutes later. They laughed and joked and looked very happy together.”
In March 2021, the American rocker was set to stay with her at her new £3 million home in North London while she was filming in the UK.
Lily then visited Michael’s parents Ira Shuman, a former executive production manager for Walt Disney who has worked on such films as The Wedding Singer and Strange Days, and Janet Shuman, in April.
The Mamma Mia star has kept her personal life private since she became the subject of global criticism when footage surfaced of her and actor Dominic West enjoying an outdoor lunch with their mutual agent, Angharad Wood, in October 2020.
