Newcastle are reportedly excited about signing Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe, while Steve Bruce is desperate to bolster his squad ahead of the start of the new season.

United are closing in on a deal for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane that would see Tuanzebe further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
The defender played under Bruce on two separate loan spells at Aston Villa and the report claims that both a lease and permanent deal have been discussed between the two clubs.
The 23-year-old was on the fringes of United’s first-team last season, with just four starts in the Premier League and a further five in all competitions.
The Magpies are still awaiting Arsenal’s decision on their bid to sign Joe Willock
Willock has returned to pre-season preparation with Arsenal, playing in their 2-2 draw with Rangers on 17 July.
Newcastle remain hopeful to sign the midfielder, but Bruce admitted Arsenal need to give them a quick response.
“Of course we want him back, he did a great job for us and gives us another dimension in midfield that we don’t have,” Bruce said after his side defeated Doncaster Rovers 3-2 in a friendly on Friday.
“We’ll just keep hammering away at it.”
Willock was instrumental in helping the Magpies escape the relegation battle with eight goals in 14 Premier League appearances after being loaned out in January.
The club’s hopes of a deal for Willock have been boosted with Arsenal signing Anderlecht’s Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga and Emile Smith Rowe signing a long-term contract. But Bruce wants a straight answer.

‘What are they going to do with Arsenal?’ he added.
“They have brought in two midfielders. That’s our starting point, with Joe, because let’s face it, he had an incredible three or four months with us. But there has to be a time when we know: will it be yes or no?
“We are only allowed two domestic loans, and we are only allowed one from each club. So there’s got to come a time when there’s a shutdown, and we’ve got to find out what’s happening. We are still doing our very best, whether on loan or to buy it. We’re still trying.’
