Akuhata Edward Robert Hammond (pictured) was on holiday in southern Thailand when he fatally fell from a seventh-floor balcony of a hotel in central Pattaya.

A New Zealand man has died after falling from a hotel balcony in Thailand.

Akuhata Edward Robert Hammond, 36, was on holiday in the south of the country when he fell from the seventh-floor balcony of a hotel in central Pattaya.

His death was reported by the local news site. Pattaya Post on Friday, but it is unclear when the incident occurred.

According to the outlet, witnesses heard Hammond yell “help me” while in an apparent “drug-induced hallucination” shortly before “jumping” off the balcony.

Her body was found trapped in air conditioning pipes and electrical cables attached to the side of a nearby building.

Mr Hammond is understood to have died at the scene.

Images from the hotel have been provided to local police who will further investigate the cause of Mr Hammond’s death.

Authorities are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Mr Hammond’s body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for a detailed post-mortem.

His uncle has created a Give a little bit campaign to raise funds so his family can return his body to their home in Mahia, in northern New Zealand.

“Our much loved son, brother and friend to many, Akuhata tragically lost his life whilst on holiday in Thailand,” he said.

We are heartbroken by this sudden loss and look forward to bringing him back to New Zealand so his family and friends can say their final goodbyes.

‘The costs involved in bringing him home are significant and we are asking for any support to make this possible.

‘Your kindness and generosity during these difficult times would mean a lot to us.

“Thank you for helping us bring Akuhata home.”
