A New York Times bestselling author who co-wrote thrillers with James Patterson has been arrested on child pornography charges.
Brendan DuBois, 64, was arrested Wednesday in New Hampshire and charged with six counts of possession of child pornography.
Exeter police and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce launched an investigation into him in March after Google reported that someone had stored “apparent child pornography” on a Google Drive account.
Authorities obtained a search warrant and raided his home before he turned himself in to police on Wednesday.
DuBois, who has co-authored nine books with Patterson, is being held in 10th Circuit Court in Brentwood ahead of his arraignment.

Police were alerted to child pornography via Google and downloaded the images showing children posing suggestively or engaging in sexual acts with adults.
They traced the user’s IP address and were led to DuBois’ home on May 7.
He declined to speak to authorities at the time of a search warrant, but his wife Mona Pinette told police they used separate computers and had a password on their Wi-Fi so people outside couldn’t use it, according to an affidavit.
He added that they were the only ones in their home when the images were downloaded.
Severn River Publishing, which published 12 of her books, has removed her biography and references to the novels from its website.
“We are deeply disturbed by the serious allegations against Brendan DuBois,” the company said.

DuBois is a former reporter who has written mystery novels and worked with Patterson, who became the first author to sell 100 million books in all print formats.
He has written 29 novels, was awarded the Edward D. Hoch Memorial Golden Derringer for lifetime achievement in 2021, and appeared on Jeopardy in 2012.
