José Castelo Branco, a socialite and generally elegant city man, was jailed in Portugal after being accused of assault by his wife, a diamond heiress.
Page six reports that Castelo Branco, 61, claims he is innocent after being jailed for assaulting his wife, Betty Grafstein.
The couple, who share an expensive and eye-catching wardrobe, have caused a stir on the social scene for years due in large part to their looks and a somewhat shocking age difference.
According to Page Six, Grafstein was admitted to a local hospital in the small town of Cascais in April with what were described only as “various conditions.”

Grafstein reportedly “asked hospital staff to ‘save’ her from her husband’s mistreatment.”
Castela Branco was arrested on May 7 and has been released, but is “prohibited from visiting his wife.”
Despite the suspicious situation, Grafstein’s husband continued to post support for her on his social media profiles, asking his followers to “pray for her.”
Castelo Branco is, among other things, a moderately successful singer in Portugal who has appeared on popular reality shows in this quiet European country.
She identifies as a man, although she is often thought to be a woman due to her extremely feminine style and makeup.
Last year, Castelo Branco told The Sun US that strangers on the Internet and elsewhere constantly bother him about his marriage, which has lasted since 1996.
“I’m living off his money, I can’t wait for him to die,” he said, others say.
“I am the one who suffers the most and the real harassment,” he added.
Grafstein added that he thinks the negative claims are “terrible.”

The couple has been turning heads on the New York City social scene for years, for several reasons, including the apparent reality that the couple share a wardrobe.
Grafstein was previously married to Albert Grafstein, the owner and operator, along with his brother, of Grafstein Diamond Corporation.
The couple bought a house together in Portugal, where Betty met Castelo Blanco after Albert’s death.
