New York rock band Blondie joins crypto craze with new art series

Blondie has joined the crypto craze with a new art series.

The New York rock band unveiled a piece of digital artwork produced with creative duo Hackatao.

It’s called Hack The Borders, is partly inspired by Andy Warhol and features cartoon images of singer Debbie Harry of the band.

Music by Blondie guitarist Chris Stein accompanies the image, along with a poem written and spoken by Harry, 76.

The work is a so-called ‘non-fungible token’ (NFT) and will be released on August 6 via auction platform Nifty Gateway.

NFTs are unique computer files associated with photos, songs, artwork and other media, seen by some as the digital answer to collectibles.

They exist on the blockchain, an online ledger system that records transactions publicly and can be traded freely.
