Daniel Bannister, 31, was charged with the murder of his daughter
A murder detective from New Jersey has been accused of murdering his three-month-old daughter.
Daniel Bannister, aged 31, was released from his job in December last year pending an investigation into the death of his daughter Hailey.
But according to Mercer County prosecutors, he is now accused of her murder.
Bannister & # 39; s wife Catherine Bannister, 29, was also accused of endangering the well-being of a child, police said.
Baby Hailey died after emergency services were called to her home on December 5 last year to report that & # 39; an unresponsive 3-month-old baby has difficulty breathing & quot ;, police said.
& # 39; Medical assistants assessed the baby, who was not breathing and had a cardiac arrest. & # 39;
Catherine Bannister, 29, was also accused of endangering the well-being of a child
Hailey was reportedly in critical condition and had a fractured skull, cerebral haemorrhage and fractured ribs.
She died six days later and Bannister was suspended after the investigators considered her death suspicious.
Prosecutors say an autopsy later revealed that she died of & # 39; complications from blunt impact trauma of the head including skull fractures and subdural hemorrhage. & # 39;
& # 39; The nature of Hailey & # 39; s injuries indicated a continuing pattern of abuse. & # 39;
Daniel Bannister has been working for the police station since 2017 and he was put in custody on Wednesday – authorities confirmed.
