The New York Jets have reportedly made a “substantial offer” to sign Aaron Glenn as the franchise’s new head coach.
The Detroit Lions defensive coordinator was in New Jersey on Tuesday for talks with the Jets following the team’s shocking elimination from the NFL playoffs on Saturday night.
That’s according to NFL insider Jordan SchultzGlenn landed back in Detroit on Jets owner Woody Johnson’s private jet.
Word has it that the Jets and Glenn haven’t finalized a deal yet, but a huge offer has been made and the job is Glenn’s “if he wants it.”
Glenn’s work in helping transform the Lions under Dan Campbell has made him one of the top head coaching candidates for teams this offseason.
He also has an interview with the New Orleans Saints later this week.

It’s believed Glenn is already lining up his coaching staff with Lions quarterbacks coach Mark Brunell an option as offensive coordinator.

Commander defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. was the last candidate to speak to the Jets before they scheduled a second interview with Glenn.
Glenn, 52, conducted a virtual interview with the Jets on Jan. 9 about their head coaching vacancy.
He was picked in the first round (12th overall) by the Jets in 1994. The three-time Pro Bowl defensive back played the first eight of his 15 NFL seasons with New York and later worked as a scout for the franchise from 2012 to 2013. .
He has been Detroit’s defensive coordinator since 2021 after stints as defensive backs coach with the Saints and Cleveland Browns.
The Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start this season and went 3-9 under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.
