New York Jets cornerback Tae Hayes was arrested in Alabama early Sunday morning on a marijuana possession charge.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, via New York PostHayes was jailed and later released after posting $300 bail.
The Jets are quoted as saying in a statement: “We are aware of the situation and will refrain from commenting further as this is a pending legal matter.”
Hayes only made one appearance with New York in the 2023 season after signing to the team’s practice squad in October.

The 26-year-old has previously spent time with nine different NFL teams since leaving Appalachian State University undrafted in 2019. His most recent stints were with the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions.
He also won a USFL championship in 2022 with the Birmingham Stallions.
Hayes has made 14 NFL appearances since ending his college career, but has yet to start.
The Jets will report to preseason training camp on July 23 ahead of the 2024 season.
They endured a miserable season last season after quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon just four plays into his debut against the Buffalo Bills. Robert Saleh’s men failed to reach the postseason without Rodgers at their disposal.
