I'm filling in for Jake this week, and this is usually where he writes some spicy thoughts about a movie or show he recently watched. I really hoped that a new one would come Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer so I could write about that, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Although, if history is something to follow, we will probably get one in the coming weeks, so hopefully it won't take too long to wait.
I did watch Once last week. It was very cute, and the music was fantastic. It was also nice to see a film that did not just go to a love story between boys and girls. OnceThe relationship between Guy and Girl was more complex, bittersweet and honest than that.

FrozenIs back! We still don't have previews of the music that this movie is likely to make or break, but the songwriting couple Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez are coming back. The film looks dark and moody, which is perfect for the fall. It will be out on November 22.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie
As the full name suggests, El Camino is a follow-up film with Bad, and it will see the return of Aaron Paul & Jesse Pinkman as he covers the aftermath of the series. If you have not looked Bad, you may want to skip this trailer. It will be Netflix on October 11.
Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci play the lead in a Martin Scorsese film about the Irish crowd and the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. It is unclear whether this will be the best mob movie ever, but it certainly looks like it most Mafia movie. It will be released in a limited release on November 1, followed by a Netflix release on November 27.
BoJack Horseman, season 6
BoJack Horseman is one of the oldest and longest running shows in Netflix, but the sixth season, which just got a trailer this week, is the last. Expect more from the characteristic mix of depression, pleasure and puns from animals during the final play. The last season is split into two parts: the first half appears on October 25 and the second half on January 31, 2020.
American son is an interesting project. It is a film adaptation of the Broadway show that parents follow when they are looking for their missing son. It has the same cast as the stage production: Kerry Washington, Steven Pasquale, Jeremy Jordan and Eugene Lee. I saw it on Broadway and I wonder if it will make up for the jump to film. It appears on November 1.
In my room
What if The Last Man of Earth was a gloomy-looking film about the end of the world instead of an off-kilter Will Forte comedy show? Well, it would probably look like that In my room. It is out on October 11.
The Wolf Hour
In this psychological thriller, Naomi Watts shines like a novelist who has cut herself off from the outside world while fighting writer's block and paranoia during the 1977 blackout riots in New York. This looks pretty stressful? It will be released later in 2019.
Kat Dennings plays the leading role Doll face, a new Hulu series in which her character Jules tries to make contact with her friends (and her life) after she broke up with her old boyfriend. Things get weird, fast: there's a giant talking cat? But it looks nice. It will premiere on November 15 in Hulu.
Apple Night Plus show from M. Night Shyamalan has not yet received a full trailer, but Apple has released two teasers (the other is here). I'm sure everything is absolutely fine with this mysterious baby. There is no release date yet.
