New to Steam: Highlights for story and strategy fans are coming this week

The Emperor gets a worthy opponent this week.

Well, after Easter is before Easter. We hope you’ve been busy collecting eggs, or alternatively, you’ve given the whole rabbit hunt a whirl and gambled properly instead. Speaking of Gamble: Of course, the holidays aren’t slowing down Steam. There are some pretty exciting games coming out this week that you should be aware of, such as a new Sherlock game for story fans. So let’s take a look at the releases of the week.

Highlight of the week: Total War: Warhammer 3 – Chaos Dwarves

Total War: Warhammer 3: Check out 22 minutes of gameplay from the Chaos Dwarves DLC

  • genre: Strategy
  • developer: Creative Assembly
  • release: April 13, 2023
  • Price: 25 euros

I’ve never seen a faction like the Chaos Dwarves in 20 years of Total Warwrites our strategy expert Fabiano in his test of the Chaos Dwarf DLC. And Fabiano is very difficult to impress – not even the cheese spaetzle at our last Christmas party managed that. At first glance, 25 euros sounds like a steep price, but such a large population receives Total War: Warhammer very, very rarely. And yes, there is a pun somewhere.

The Chaos Dwarfs expand the main game with… the Chaos Dwarves, but that doesn’t just mean 26 new units, a new starting position and so on. The Chaos Dwarves also bring very unique mechanics with them, such as an extremely branched economic system and the hunt for the Drill of the Hashut, with which you can turn the tide of campaign in your favor.

The Chaos Dwarves will appear on April 13, 2023, as I said for 25 euros. You can currently get a 10 percent discount if you buy it before the release.

More exciting Steam releases of the week

If you don’t feel like strategy, there are a few other interesting candidates throughout the week. But don’t expect too many releases, apart from the big names, the week looks rather meager. Let’s go through it.

Monday April 10, 2023

  • Cynthia: Hidden in the Moon Shadow is very clearly inspired by Genshin Impact and Zelda: Breath of the Wild, so a colorful 3D adventure with puzzles, battles and so on. Maybe it’ll be nice.

Tuesday April 11, 2023

  • After the pretty good Chapter One stands with Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened the next Sherlock blockbuster from Frogwares, this time a mix of Sherlock and Call of Cthulhu.
  • Coal Mining Simulator: Surely you always wanted to rake in coal in the mine. This is now also possible virtually.
  • Tron: Identity: Visual novels are probably the last thing you would instinctively think about when it comes to Tron, but hey… better than nothing.

Wednesday April 12, 2023

  • wildfrost is a tactical roguelike deck builder that looks a bit like Hearthstone.

Thursday April 13, 2023

From Friday then, as usual, only small stuff will appear somewhere between asset flip and hentai butze. Is there something for you this time? Or do you wait until the end of April for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to finally appear and redeem us after a long dry spell? Write us in the comments.
