Work on Cyberpunk 2077 continues. As CD Projekt Red announced on Twitter, a new patch has been released. However, both the download and the change list are quite narrow.
Fixed crashes
First and foremost, the hotfix fixes two situations where crashes could occur. One of them can be found during the final quest.

path tracing and dynamic resolution scaling
The second change has to do with the recently added path tracing. As soon as this is activated, you can do this Dynamic resolution scaling
no longer use.
What is path tracing? This experimental mode allows, among other things, the calculation of direct and indirect lighting on a level not previously seen in a video game. This rendering technique involves far fewer compromises than regular ray tracing.
It is considered to be the next evolutionary stage of gaming graphics. However, without the use of DLSS or FSR – if more than a handful of FPS are desired – it is only useful on absolute high-end cards such as the 4080 or 4090.

In which Dynamic resolution scaling
is about a technology that dynamically adjusts the game resolution used and thus drastically reduces the number of calculated pixels depending on the scene. This increases FPS but reduces image quality.
Not to be confused with DLSS, FSR or Intel’s XeSS. These calculate the resolution used internally using algorithms. If you are interested in the topic, this is a good place to start.
But why should you then disable if path tracing needs so much power?
Our Hardware editor Nils Raettig has a guess: With path tracing, the image is already sometimes quite restless due to the noise that is not easily avoidable, which is added to calculations using path tracing. If you then combine this with a dynamic resolution and the high hardware demands of the technology, the picture quality probably suffers too much.
So just use it DLSS with Nvidia cardsand FSR or XeSS with AMD or. intel GPU’s. CD Projekt Red is simply taking a source of potential disappointment out of the options.
Attention in terms of mods: The developer points out that although the version number does not change, mods can still be affected in their function. So if you are unsure or even experience new bugs, it is worth taking a look at your list modswhether not one or the other also needs an update.
How about you? Have you been affected by the crashes? Did you guys get the patch helped? Or is your gaming fun at Cyberpoint 2077 lacking in other technical shortcomings? Do you use the extremely chic path tracing mode, even if it has every ounce of power squeezes out of the GPU? Tell us about your experiences in the comments!
