Easter bonnet: the new four-seater Maserati GranCabrio 'spyder' grand tourer is initially only available as a top version of the Trofeo variant

What kind of Easter hat is this to bring a little Italian sun into your spring holidays?

The new four-seat Maserati GranCabrio ‘spyder’ grand tourer is initially only available as a top-of-the-line Trofeo version.

It will be powered by a 542bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine with all-wheel drive, capable of accelerating from 0 to 62mph in 3.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 196mph.

That is only marginally less than the hardtop GranTurismo coupe version, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h.

Now that order books are open, prices for the GranCabrio start from £169,465 ahead of the first deliveries in June.

A 751 hp electric version, called Folgore, will follow later this year.

A neck warmer system with three heat levels is standard. But the wind deflector, designed to reduce turbulence for occupants, is an optional extra.

Happy Easter.

Skoda unveils SUV called Epiq

Skoda has given us a first look at its new entry-level all-electric SUV called Epiq, which is expected to cost around £22,000 when it goes on sale next year.

The image is said to be close to the final production model. It revives the spirit of the popular Skoda Yeti sold between 2009 and 2017 and which remains a smart choice for second-hand buyers.

Auto Express editor Steve Fowler said: ‘Skoda fans will immediately draw comparisons with the popular Yeti SUV which was axed amid an outcry in 2017.’

Although slightly shorter than the Yeti, the Epiq has more luggage space, with 490 liters compared to the Yeti’s 416 liters. The modern interior includes a large central touchscreen.
