Staying at home watching Netflix and ordering in Uber Eats has become the new night out according to new retail trends.
The PayPal 2019 mCommerce Index released this week showed that Australians are more likely to opt for a night on the couch than going out or going on vacation.
The growing demand for live streaming services at home such as Netflix and Stan has risen by 36 percent last year.
Uber Eats' turnover has experienced a similar peak, while more shoppers are leaving the checkouts of the supermarket in favor of home delivery services, which have grown by almost a third (32 percent).

Mobile purchases for & # 39; experiences & # 39; such as concert, film and theater tickets fell by 21 percent, while sales for flights and hotels fell by 13 percent.
PayPal shopping expert Jess Rix said the latest shopping trends reflect the need for convenience that fits our busy lifestyle.

Mrs Rix denied that the phenomenon of online shopping has created a generation of lazy consumers.

The decline in online purchases for entertainment and travel is not necessarily bad news for those industries.

Nearly 80 percent of Australian consumers shop on their mobile while watching television or in bed, while one in eight known to shop online while on the toilet.
In other retail trends, more than half of Australians (55 percent) are & # 39; conscious consumers & # 39; that support ethical and sustainable brands and those that are not, boycott.

Online shopping on social media has exploded over the past 12 months with a peak of 42 percent.
Although Facebook remains the most popular social media platform for online shopping, Instagram is running fast.
"There is a new wave of consumer behavior and it is driven by the young," Rix said.
"Every purchasing decision has the power to change the world a little and we're starting to see a shift, as Australians are increasingly choosing brands that operate ethically and sustainably over those that don't."
She recommended these handy tips for online shoppers.
