Olivia Rodrigo released the music video for her new song Obsessed and fans are going crazy trying to decipher the lyrics.
Obsessed is one of five newly released songs from her extended Guts album that became instant hits on iTunes within hours of their debut on Friday. The other deluxe ditties include So American, Stranger, Scared of My Guitar and Girl I’ve Always Been.
The rocking Obsessed and its accompanying video have the 21-year-old superstar getting jealous of her new partner’s ex-boyfriend as she says: ‘If I told you how much I think about her / You’d think I was in love.’
Her fixation is reinforced when she admits she knows the ex’s ‘star sign’ and ‘blood type’, and even imagines the ex sleeping on her ‘side of the bed’.
While the ex is never identified, Olivia finally drops a hint that the person in question is an actress.

In the pre-chorus she sings: ‘I’ve seen every movie she’s been in and oh my God she’s beautiful.’
She later adds: ‘She’s got those lips, she’s got those hips. The life of every f*****’ party / She’s talented, she’s good with kids / She even talks kindly about me.’
As there is a lot of speculation among fans, some are linking the unnamed actress with Sabrina Carpenter, referring to their alleged 2022 love triangle with Joshua Bassett.
Adding to the speculation, in 2022, Olivia reportedly dated Zack Bia shortly after his breakup with Outer Banks actress Madelyn Cline.
Fans will find it challenging to validate their theories as Olivia has never officially confirmed the subjects of her songs.
In 2023, she said The Guardian‘I never want to say who my songs are about… I’ve never done that before in my career and I probably won’t.’
She added: ‘I think it’s better not to break up a song to be about this one thing.’
The Obsessed video begins with Olivia gathering in a room full of her partner’s scorned exes, who are wearing party hats with titles like Miss Thought She Was the One and Miss 2 Summers Ago.

As the music builds to a crescendo along with the visuals, there are quick cuts of a band playing, all dressed in black suits.
There’s also a quick shot of Rodrigo rocking out as he leads the band on vocals, all while the music keeps getting louder.
As all the women clap behind her, the Driver’s License singer slowly turns to face the ladies and the song title, ‘Obsessed’, appears on the screen.
On Thursday, Rodrigo teased the upcoming deluxe release by sharing a photo of himself standing in the middle of a group of ladies, many holding signs reading: ‘strangers’ and scared of my guitar’.
Rodrigo can be seen holding a ‘Guts Deluxe out Friday’ sign all the while smiling.
Another photo shows the Murrieta, Calif., native with a hole cut into her face that reads “Guts (spill) inside it.
‘5 new tunes for you!!!! GUTS (spilled) out Friday!!!!!!’ she wrote in the caption of this teaser.
The deluxe edition of Guts saw the Grammy winner beat other exciting drops from the likes of Cardi B, Shakira, Future, Metro Boomin and more on iTunes.

Vampire served as the first single from Guts back on June 30, 2023, and shot straight to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking her third number one song.
The second single, Bad Idea right? would drop in August, reaching the top 10 in Australia, the US and the UK, which was followed by the third single, Get Him Back! in September and peaked among the top 10 on the Billboard Global 200 chart.
To date, Guts has topped the album charts in 15 countries, including the US, Australia, Germany, Sweden and the UK.
