A new father went viral online after trying to use a 30-year-old coupon at Target, only for the effort to lead to a surprising twist.
While preparing to welcome his first baby into the world, Logan Ivey, 30, discovered an old Gerber coupon that he originally gave to his mother when he was a newborn.
The coupon promised a $1 discount on any Gerber item except food, and had “no expiration date” printed in bold letters.
Gerber and his fiancée Michelle took the coupon to their local Target, where the staff found them confused and couldn’t find a way to scan the coupon.
After three different staff members tried to help, a manager eventually accepted the coupon and reduced the price of a pair of Gerber socks from $9 to $8.

In an unexpected twist, Gerber staff saw the viral video, which racked up more than 2.4 million likes, and responded with a sweet gesture for the couple.
“We watched your video and love that you were able to use a little piece of our history as you prepare to bring your own Gerber baby into the world,” a company spokesperson said. he said in his own viral video.
“While it’s awesome that you were able to use our previous coupon, we want to offer you something bigger and better,” the former employee said.
The company gifted Ivey and his fiancée a year’s supply of baby food, as well as a wardrobe of baby clothes.
‘Congratulations to you and your fiancée, we are so excited for you!’ the company added.
“Thanks to your mom for keeping that coupon, it was so fun to see one of those again.”
‘We were so excited about this and thought it was all crazy since it started with a little $1 off coupon.
“A lot of people commented that they were angry because I cut up a card that had sentimental value and it was ruining the memory.” Ivey told Newsweek.
“But in the 30 years my mother had that card, she had probably only looked at it once or twice.

‘But now my mom has shown a lot of people my video and Gerber’s response video.
“She, of course, showed it to her best friend, who gave her the card 30 years ago, who loved it and wasn’t mad that I cut it up.”
‘Also, a nice touch was that, in the package Gerber gave us, they recreated the card and coupon, but this time with the baby food and wardrobe, so now we have an intact card to go with the cut one.’ , he explained.
