Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has apologized for the threatening and vulgar comments he made against Michael Rapaport in a private, online argument the 51-year-old actor published earlier this week.

Rapaport, who now does a sports-focused podcast, shared the screen on Twitter on Tuesday, showing the former NBA MVP calling him a “ pale bastard ” and making references to his wife during the December exchange.

“I’m sorry people saw the language I used,” said the injured Durant before Thursday’s victory over the Charlotte Hornets in Brooklyn. “That’s not really what I want people to see and hear from me, but hopefully I can get past it and get back on the ground.”

The NBA has not issued a statement about this. Nets coach Steve Nash said the team discussed the comments internally, but would not reveal the details of that conversation.

Oddly, the comments were revealed a day after a federal judge dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by Rapaport against Barstool Sports and its founder Dave Portnoy over a t-shirt featuring the actor with a case of herpes. Durant even referred to that lawsuit in one of the Instagram attacks he launched on Rapaport in December.

“Your wife is so crazy for wasting that little bit of money on a lawyer because you can’t stand a joke,” Durant wrote in a direct message to Rapaport in December.

Judging from the screenshots, the argument appears to have started in December after Durant had an awkward post-game interview with TNT’s studio analyst and former NBA star Charles Barkley. During the post-game satellite exchange, Durant abruptly responded to Barkley’s lengthy questions with one-word answers such as ‘yes’.

KD seemed to be with the deep in his feelings [TNT] crew after the game, ‘Rapaport tweeted in December. ‘DAMNIT, he’s super sensitive to everything. Don’t do the interview. ‘

In response to direct reports, Durant lashed out at Rapaport for the insult.

Rapaport told Durant to “start helping kids in Brownsville, Brooklyn and no longer be Puzzles.”

Durant apologized Tuesday after Rapaport revealed the rant, although in another post the former NBA MVP seemed to dismiss the exchange as friendly banter: “ Me and Mike are talking CRAZY than this on the normal and today he’s pissed off … My damn bad mic !! ‘

Rapaport did not accept the apology, writing on Twitter that Durant crossed a line by naming his wife: “Never threaten me or talk about my wife P ****.”

Durant backed down a bit on Tuesday afternoon, insisting he had no violent intentions with Rapaport.

“I WOULD NEVER FIGHT MIKE,” Durant replied on Instagram. ‘THE PORTNOY THING WAS TOO FAR I SEE ….. my bad apologies.’

Durant then wrote: ‘Wow are you acting like brand new now ?? We’ve been talking like that for years and you’re getting serious today. Wow. Smhhh. ‘

In a podcast this week, Rapaport shot Durant’s suggestion that they are really friends, saying he was divulging the conversation so he could “ control the story. ”

‘We’re not friends, this isn’t teasing, I’m not calling my friends and pretending to spit on you.

‘That is not a chat in the dressing room, we are not talking. That’s not how people talk, you’re threatening me. You did it three times. ‘

I wanted to show everyone what kind of bastard you are, ”Rapaport continued. ‘Never shove in my DMs like s ** t sweet, we’re not friends, you don’t even have my f ** king phone number, cornball.’

Durant and Rapaport didn’t always have a contentious relationship.

The two even made a light-hearted video in which Rapaport alternately begs for tickets and complains about the seats Durant made available to him.

And while Durant has accused Rapaport of being overly sensitive, he has also been accused of the same over the years.

Durant has even been caught using a fake ‘burner’ Twitter account to attack his online critics.

After signing as a free agent with the Golden State Warriors in 2017, he snapped at a fan who questioned his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant responded in the third person because he seemed to think he was logged into a burner account: ‘[Durant] didn’t like the organization or play for it [then-Thunder coach] Billy Donovan. His selection wasn’t that good, it was just him and [Russell Westbrook]

Obviously, fans noticed Durant writing about himself in the third person and quickly grasped the possibility that he had a burner account.

At a TechCrunch Disrupt event following the incident, Durant defended himself by saying he gets too passionate about basketball.

“I use Twitter to connect with fans,” Durant said. ‘I think it’s a great way to connect with basketball fans. I took it a bit too far. That’s what sometimes happens when I’m in these basketball debates about what I really like, playing basketball.

Durant has been eliminated with a hamstring injury since mid-February, but the talent-laden Nets are currently tied first in the Eastern Conference standings with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Durant is listed at six feet and is generally considered taller. Durant has been one of the game’s top players since he was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics with the second overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft. The former Texas Longhorns star now has two MVP honors in the NBA Finals with a pair of NBA titles, the 2014 NBA MVP award and the 2008 Rookie of the Year trophy.

In 2019, Durant signed a $ 164 million four-year sign-and-trade deal with Golden State that sent him to Brooklyn, where he is now linked to other All-Stars such as Kyrie Irving and James Harden.
