A 2023 Netflix spy thriller series was so popular in its debut season that it was already greenlit for the third season, months before the second premiered.
netflix announced The second installment of The Night Agent will return later than expected: in the winter of 2025, with ten episodes.
The show’s creator, Shawn Ryan, said Tudum: “We are very excited for our fans to be able to see season 2 in early 2025, and we have been working hard to write season 3 to deliver more of Peter Sutherland’s breathless late-night action adventures to our rabid audience.”
The thriller show was the most-watched series by viewers in 2023 and is the seventh most popular English-language show of all time.

Season 1 received 98.2 million views in its first 91 days and reached the number one spot in the Netflix top ten in 87 countries, Tudum reported.
Based on a novel by Matthew Quirk, the series follows a low-level FBI agent, Peter Sutherland, played by Gabriel Basso.
Sutherland works in the basement of the White House and operates a telephone that never rings, until it finally does. He then becomes part of a conspiracy within the White House and endeavors to uncover a mole.
At the end of the first season, Sutherland headed out on his first night mission as an agent in a jet. This promotion was the reward for ‘unraveling a terrorist conspiracy within the walls of the White House’ and saving the life of President Michelle Travers, played by Kari Matchett.
The main character, Peter Sutherland, played by Gabriel Basso, works in the White House and spent the first season uncovering a mole and a terrorist conspiracy.
The second season of the show will premiere in the winter of 2025, later than planned.

The show’s upcoming seasons follow Sutherland’s journey as he enters the world of a Night Agent, Tudum said: “Working in the secret Night Action organization will thrust Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply.”
Ryan said: “Seeing a tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix.”
He added, “We couldn’t be prouder or more excited to kick off season 2 and share the new adventures of Night Action with our new fans.”
A list of new names were added to the cast list in the second season, including Arienne Mandi, Britanny Snow, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, and Teddy Sears.
Production on the third season will begin in Istanbul later this year and return to New York in 2025.
